The MagTek iDynamo and mobile case are used to provide table-side ordering and payment.

NOTE: This case is designed for use with the iPad Mini Generation 6 (2022 release). The iPad Mini Gen 6 uses a USB-C charger instead of a Apple Lightning.

Card Reader Cartrage Assembly

TIP: The case can be used without a card reader if the POS is only used for ordering table-side and payment is made at the counter, although this configuration would be less common.

Installing the iDynamo 6 Card reader

1. Use a medium sized Philip's screwdriver to remove the 4 screws from the cartridge bottom to seperate.
2. Orient the cartridge bottom so the white cable connector is on your left.
3. Set the card reader into the cartridge bottom with the MagTek logo facing up and readable from your position.
4. There are two connector leads coming from the control board.
   • Plug the BLACK male USBC connector into the charging port on the right side of the card reader.
   • Plug the  CLEAR female USBC connector onto the USBC connector on the front of the card reader.
5. Set the cartridge top onto the cartridge bottom, sandwiching the card reader, ensuring cables are not pinched.
6. Turn over the cartridge assembly and re-insert the screws to complete the assembly.

Attaching the Card Reader Cartridge to the Sled

First, remove the blank plate from the sled.

1. Orient the sled with the connector end facing you.

2. Please your thumbs on the top of the plate.

3. Use your thumbs to push on the plate away from you to release it.

4. Lift up on the plate to complete deinstallation.

Next, attach the card reader cartridge to the sled.

The card reader sled attaches by reversing the steps to remove the blank plate.

1. Orient the card reader cartridge so that the gold connector pins on the cartridge make contact with the gold contacts on the sled.

2. Face the connector edge of the sled toward you.

3. On the back of the card reader cartridge, there is an upper lip, a lower lip and two "feet" in the center. Align these pieces with the sled.

4. Press the cartridge into the sled until you get the first "click".

5. Slide the cartridge toward the connector end for the second "click".

6. This secures the card reader to the sled.

TIP: This alignment can be a bit tricky the first time. Practice patience and refrain from using excessive force. Once you get a feel for it it becomes easier.

WARNING: If the card reader cartridge disconnects from the sled after it is installed in the case, the sled must be removed from the case to re-attach the card reader cartridge. Attempting to re-attach the card reader cartridge without removing the sled from the case may cause damage to the sled and or cartridge.

Mobile Case Assembly

Attach the card reader sled to the case

1. Push the sled into the slot in the case from the connectors on the sled. WARNING: Do not push the sled in while holding the card reader cartridge or it may detach.

2. Make sure the sled is fully seated and flush with the body of the case.

3. Optionally install the set screw for the sled

To remove the sled from the case

1. Remove the sled set screw if installed.

2.Hold down on the locking tab (indicated with a lock icon) in the center of the case.

3. Slide out the sled by reversing the installation steps.

WARNING: If the card reader cartridge disconnects from the sled after it is installed in the case, the sled must be removed from the case to re-attach the card reader cartridge. Attempting to re-attach the card reader cartridge without removing the sled from the case may cause damage to the sled and or cartridge.

Completing Case Assembly

1. Slowly slide the iPad Mini into the body section of the case

2. Ensure that the USB-C charging port if the iPad is correctly aligned with the connector on the sled before fully seating the iPad.

3. Slide the case "cap" onto the iPad, ensuring that the locking tab is fully seated.

4. This completes the assembly.

To remove the iPad from the case

1. Press on the locking tab holding the cap to the case body.
2. Slide the cap off the iPad.
3. Carefully slide out the iPad from the case body, making sure not to put pressure on the front glass.

Handle Installation

The handle is a rubber grip with a strap that securely mounts to the case. The handle installs onto the case cap and requires a Philip's head screwdriver for assembly.

The handle kit includes:

• 1 Strap bracket with long threaded bolt
• 1 rubber handle
• 2 handle brackets

To install the handle:

The handle brackets have an L-shaped lip that hook into the slots on the cap.

1. Insert one of the handle brackets into the top slot on the cap with the L facing downward.

2. Position the rubber handle in place, lining up the hole in the handle with the hole in the bracket.

3. Insert the remaining handle bracket on the bottom of the rubber handle with the L facing upward.

4. Run the threaded bolt with attached strap through the center hole of the rubber handle.

5. Secure the handle by tightening the screws.

Charging the Mobile Case

The case can be charged with a USBC type connector and a standard phone-charging brick. The sled is equipped with a built in battery. To check the status of the battery, hold the button on the bottom of the sled near the gold connectors. The number of lights indicates the level of charge.

100% Battery = 4 lights
75% Battery = 3 lights
50% Battery = 2 lights
25% Battery = 1 lights

Successful card reader connection is displayed by a green light visible on the card reader device itself.

The case comes with a USB-C charging cable. Optionally, there is an available docking station for the mobile case, and a multi-unit docking station.

When seating the mobile case into the charging dock make sure the gold contact pins on the dock seat fully against the contacts on the case. Charging is indicated when the docking station shows a red (charging) or green (charged) light, indicated for the bay the case is seated in. Also, the iPad shows a charging icon on the screen.

Batteries

The iDynamo 6 and iPad are also equipped with batteries. When Charging, the charging cycle goes Case > iDynamo 6 > iPad. The iPad will not charge until the case battery and iDynamo 6 are fully charged.

TIP: To save iPad battery it is recommended to turn down the screen brightness to the lowest comfortable level. Additionally, charge the mobile case whenever it is not in use to avoid dead batteries or long charging times during service.
