Variations

Variations allow prices for products and modifiers to change based on the selected variation. This gives a conversational approach to ordering that allows sizes to be changed without having to input customer choices again.

Examples of Product Variant Uses:

  • Size of Pizza (Small, Medium, Large)

  • Liquor pour (Shot, Rocks)

  • Beer container (Mug, Pint, Growler)

Variations are applied to modifiers as price over-rides that can occur either at the modifier level or the product level. Both methods will be shown here.

Variations Terms

  • Variation Group - Container for a list of Variations.

  • Variant - Products and Modifiers with price set based on the selected variation.

How to Create Variations

To add a new variation group:

  • Click the Add Variation Group button

  • In the Edit Variation Group panel, give the group a name that is descriptive but short

To Edit a Variation Group:

  • Click the Edit Details button. The only thing to change would be the name.

To add Variations to the group:

  • Click the Edit Variations button next to a Variation group.

  • In the Variations list, click Add Variation at the top left

  • In the panel, name the Variation

  • Continue adding all of the variations for this group (e.g. Small, Medium, Large)

There are two ways to set variant modifier pricing, in the variant or in the product-modifier matrix.

To Set Variant Modifier Pricing in the Variant:

  • Click Edit Details next to the variant name
  • Enter the modifier price when this variant is selected

  • In Menu Design, navigate to and click the product you’d like to apply the Variants

  • In the Edit Product Properties menu tap Edit Properties > Variants.

  • You will see a list of all Variation Groups

  • Toggle on a variation group to activate a variant within the variation group to your product

  • Enter a price for the selected Variant

Click Edit Variants in the Product Properties menu

Enter the price for the selected Variants.

Variation Modifier Matrix

The modifier matrix allows you to change the price of modifiers based on product variants. This is ideal for something like Pizza, where the cost of toppings modifiers can change based on the size of the product.

To use the modifier matrix, you will need to have both a variant applied to the product, and a modifier group assigned to that same product.

  • Select the desired product in Menu Design
  • In the Product Properties menu, select Modifier Matrix
  • Select a Variation from the drop-down menu at the top of the modifier matrix panel
  • Enter a price for each modifier, when that product variant is selected

Click the product and select Modifier Matrix from the Properties menu.

Select a variation from the dropdown menu and enter the price of the modifiers when this variant is selected.
