Modifiers are used to provide guests with options when ordering from the menu.
TIP: To keep things well organized on the menu, modifier groups should be narrow and have names relating directly to the products they modify. For example "Cheeseburger Toppings", "Dipping Sauce Choice", "Steak Cook Temp".
Also, if you have different products that share some options, you’ll still want separate modifier groups unless the choices are identical for both products. For example, “Pizza Toppings” and “Sandwich Toppings” may share some ingredients but not all. Save your servers the headache of having to remember and prevent kitchen mistakes.
NOTE: Always remove modifiers from products before you delete the product. Modifiers that are in use (even for deleted products) may not be able to be deleted.
These settings name the modifier group and determine how modifiers within this group will function.
Modifier groups are applied to products. The modifier group contains individual modifiers. To create a new modifier group click the Add Group button. This opens the New Modifier Group edit panel.
Once you have created the modifier group, inside the modifier group you can add the modifiers you want to be available for the product.
Next to the name of the modifier group, click the Edit Modifiers button
At the top of the list click the Add Modifier button
To choose which products you apply a modifier group to:
(Added 10/22)
You can also print a product to a print queue conditionally, based on the modifier selected. This comes into play when the modifier is prepared at a station other than the parent product. For example, a burger that comes with a choice of fries or side salad. The salad needs to be made at the salad station when this modifier is selected.
To set modifier printers:
NOTE: Modifiers do not need to be assigned to printers. The default behavior is for products with modifiers to print to the queue the product is assigned to. Modifier printers, when specified allow you to print the product to an ADDITIONAL print queue that it otherwise would not print to.
Edit Printers allows you to also print the product to another kitchen station when this modifier is selected.
Set the additional queue(s) to print the product to when this modifier is selected.
Submodifiers allow us to nest another modifier group under a modifier. This allows more customization for your guests and better communication with the kitchen.
NOTE: There are some restrictions. Submodifiers can only nest one level deep. If a modifier in a group has any submodifiers already applied, that group can not be used as a submodifier in another group.
Click the three-dot menu next to the name of the modifier you want to add a submodifier to.
Select Edit Submodifiers

Submodifier styles are inherited from the parent modifier group.
