Ingredients



In Ingredients, you can add raw base-components used in the construction of dishes. By adding ingredients you can track stock levels and food costs more accurately.


There are 3 steps to setting up and using ingredients:

  1. Add ingredients to the system
  2. Attach ingredient usage amount to products
  3. Track inventory and update levels using Ingredient Tracking


Edit Ingredients

First, we need to add ingredients to the system.


  • Click Edit Ingredients
    • In the Ingredient list:
      • Name -- Ingredient name
      • Amount -- Current stock on hand as entered in tracking
      • To edit or remove an existing ingredient, click Edit Details next to the ingredient name
      • NOTE: Ingredients must be removed from all products before they can be deleted.
    • To add a new ingredient, click the Add New Ingredient button

Add New Ingredient

In the Add New Ingredient panel:

  • Ingredient Name -- Add the name of the ingredient as it will appear in the list.
  • Ingredient Unit Type-- Select the unit type from the dropdown menu
    • Count -- For tracking items as whole units such as eggs or pre-made patties
    • Solid -- For tracking in solid measurement units (e.g. Dry Ounces, Dry Tablespoons etc.)
    • Liquid -- For tracking in liquid measurement units (e.g. Liquid Ounces, liters, etc.)
    • NOTE: Unit Type can not be changed after the ingredient is saved
  • Ingredient Tracking Unit -- Select the tracking unit you want to use in reporting. NOTE: Tracking units are limited by the choice of Ingredient Unit Type, above (i.e. Count, Solid, Liquid). 
  • My cost is / For every / Tracking unit-- Use this section to enter your ingredient costs.
    • My cost is -- Enter your ingredient cost from your supplier
    • For every -- Enter the the number of units you receive in an order
    • Tracking unit -- Enter the tracking unit used by your supplier for the number of units
    • TIP: The system freely and automatically converts between like-unit types, so no conversion is necessary.
  • Minimum Par Level -- Enter the minimum amount of stock for this ingredient. When the level drops below part you can be automatically emailed. (See Low Ingredient Emails.
  • Custom Units -- You can set up custom units (see below)
  • Attached Products -- List products the ingredient is currently attached to. 
    • NOTE: Ingredients must be removed from all products before they can be deleted.




Custom Units

After saving an ingredient, you can set up custom units.

  • Custom Units-- You can add custom units to the system that are defined as an amount of standard units
    • In Edit Custom Unit:
      • (Number) units of (custom unit name) is equal to (Number) of (tracking unit) -- Enter the equivalent standard units for the custom unit.

 




Ingredient Tracking

Manually enter changes to ingredient levels that is not from the sale of products


Track Received

When you receive stock from your suppliers, enter the amount in Track Received


In Track Received:

  • Search by Name -- Enter the ingredient name to filter the list for matching results
  • Name -- Ingredient name
  • Current -- The current amount on hand as tracked by the system
  • Amount -- Enter the amount received


Track Wasted

When product is wasted and was not rung up as sales, enter it here. For example, prep waste.


In Track Wasted

  • Search by Name -- Enter the ingredient name to filter the list for matching results
  • Name -- Ingredient name
  • Current -- The current amount on hand as tracked by the system
  • Amount -- Enter the amount wasted


Track Actual

Perform a physical audit or count of stock on hand to make adjustment that indicate variance between how much product should be in stock versus how much is actually in stock.


  • Search by Name -- Enter the ingredient name to filter the list for matching results
  • Name -- Ingredient name
  • Current -- The current amount on hand as tracked by the system
  • Amount -- Enter the amount physically counted


Adding Ingredients to Products

To add ingredients to products:

  • Navigate to Product Management > Menu Design
  • Click on the desired product to bring up the product properties menu
  • Select Edit Ingredients
    • In Edit Product ingredients:
      • Filter By Name -- Search for the ingredient name if you have a long list
      • Add Ingredient -- You can also add an ingredient here
      • Name -- Ingredient Name
      • Amount -- Enter the amount of the ingredient used by this product
      • Unit -- Enter the unit you wish to track the amount in
